The farm is situated at the gateway to the Trough of Bowland and draws its water supply from hill streams from the fells of Bowland. Such streams are subject to extreme fluctuations in temperature, turbidity, dissolved oxygen, acidity and alkalinity. This, whilst not being the most manageable of environments for trout farming, is essential we feel for the production of a hardy stock of fish, suitable for transfer into most waters throughout the country.
Indeed, experience leads us to believe that our fish are "conditioned" to such a variety of environments that it is only at the extremities of the brown trouts natural range that problems may arise.
